ACKNOWLEDGING ADDICTION AND ADDICTION TREATMENT PSYCHOLOGY

Acknowledging that you’re addicted- and, accepting it. Yes, it’s tough. But once we’re on the same page, working on it becomes a LOT easier. So, what if I told you:

  • You’re never going to crave for it (whatever the “it” is meant to be) again in your life?
  • You’ll not be required to give in extra effort or willpower?
  • You’ll not be suffering from withdrawal symptoms, e.g., weight gain?
  • You’ll start enjoying social occasions more, right away, by being actually “present” there?
  • You’ll feel more confident and be able to concentrate on your tasks better?
  • And most importantly, you won’t miss your “addictive element” ever again in your life?

So, what if a miracle actually happened and resulted in all that I just mentioned? For most of you, I believe it would be amazing, isn’t it? Or perhaps, the very thought of quitting fills you with panic? But, believe it or not, once you begin your association with my addiction treatment plan, you’ll wonder, how could you have been brainwashed into believing you couldn’t survive without it.

You didn’t CHOOSE to be an addict. Yes. And although you may have chosen to experiment a little in the beginning, obviously, you didn’t make it your life consciously. Somewhat similar to when you choose to go to the movies, you don’t really choose to spend your whole life there even if you loved the film you’ve just watched, right?

Similarly, first, acknowledge that this is NOT the life that you chose to live. Next, learn and understand the fact that quitting on your own has very low success rates- less than 3% after a year. No one is really forced to believe they won’t be able to live without a “substance”. What drives this belief is FEAR.

What you need to understand is, this fear is not diminished by this substance. Instead, it is actually CREATED by it. Be honest to yourself and answer this simple question:

When you first experimented with it, did you actually decide to stay this way as long as you have, till this second?

Also, if you DO have any plans to quit when are you truly going to act on it? Tomorrow? Next year?

It’s an uncertain fight that perhaps goes on in your subconscious mind most of the time. But the universal truth is, addiction is a life-long trap. Take smokers for example. Why do most smokers smoke until the very day they die?

Once we do land on the same page, it becomes easier to understand what “you are your worst enemy” actually means. This clearer vision, thus, enables us to foresee the fight against ourselves.

So, here’s the deal. With my private addiction treatment practices, your addictions will be addressed with the help of

  • Suboxone,
  • Sublocade,
  • Vivitrol, or
  • outpatient Detox regimens.

The sooner you are prepared for it, the faster you open the doors to a more pleasant and addiction-free life.
